How this page works.

  1. 1Every fact is from the vendor's own page, checked on September 11, 2026.Vendors change pages. Check the vendor's pricing page before you sign anything.
  2. 2These are different kinds of product.Rippling Recruiting is an applicant tracking system sold as part of the Rippling platform, alongside HRIS, payroll, and benefits. Greenhouse is an applicant tracking system on its own. The table compares only the hiring parts, and says so where a row does not apply.
  3. 3Neither vendor publishes a price.Rippling says most of its products are billed per employee per month and sends a custom quote. Greenhouse says pricing is customized to your hiring needs. The page sticks to what each one does publish: how the bill is shaped, what is on the page about interviewing, and how each connects to AI tools.
  4. 4Yardstick is our product. It appears once, at the end, as a third option. Everything above that section is about the two of them.

What each one is.

Rippling Recruiting

Rippling Recruiting is an applicant tracking system that Rippling describes as part of its all-in-one platform. The Rippling pricing page lists Recruiting as one product under HCM, next to HRIS, benefits administration, and performance management, publishes no dollar figure, and says most Rippling products are billed on a simple per-employee, per-month basis, with some charged at or including a monthly base fee. You request a custom quote. Rippling's own recruiting review, dated January 2026, says Rippling Recruiting is an add-on to the core HRIS platform and requires it.

On interviewing, Rippling describes custom scorecards with structured questions and rating scales, an Interview Assistant with automated recording, transcription, and summaries, Smart Scheduling that lets candidates self-book, and Candidate Feedback Summaries that synthesize interviewer input into one overview. Offer letters generate automatically from candidate information, approved compensation bands in the HRIS, and built-in approval flows. Jobs post to LinkedIn and Indeed through native integrations and to other boards.

Rippling lists AI-powered Application Review against custom criteria and an Ask Rippling AI prompt for hiring questions. The Rippling Recruiting page links to API documentation, and Rippling MCP, on rippling.com, names Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and Gemini and covers people and org data, time off, hiring, and custom objects under the user's Rippling permissions. Neither Rippling page we checked publishes a minimum term, a free tier, a trial, or e-signature.

Greenhouse

Greenhouse is a standalone applicant tracking system sold in three tiers, Core, Plus, and Pro. Its pricing page says pricing is customized based on your company's hiring needs, that the cost depends on tier, hiring volume, organizational complexity, and the features you need, and publishes no figure, billing basis, minimum term, free tier, or trial.

Structured interview kits and scorecards are on every tier, including Core, alongside an AI Notetaker, sourcing and CRM, reporting and analytics, and e-signature. Plus adds AI-powered report filters, a business intelligence connector, and texting. Pro adds an audit log, a developer sandbox and sandbox sync, and enterprise-level data configuration and security.

Greenhouse MCP is in open beta and available to all Site Admins on Core, Plus, and Pro. Greenhouse describes it as a governed, permissioned way to connect approved AI tools to Greenhouse for reporting insights, candidate or job context summaries, internal copilots, and cross-system workflows, and names Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini as tools teams may already use. No price is stated. The pricing page does not name Rippling or any other HRIS.

Where the two actually differ.

Rippling prices the whole company; Greenhouse prices the hiring.

Rippling says most of its products are billed per employee per month, and its own recruiting review says Rippling Recruiting is an add-on that requires the core HRIS platform. So the recruiting bill scales with headcount and sits on top of the HRIS bill. Greenhouse quotes for hiring tooling alone, with a price that its page says depends on tier, hiring volume, and organizational complexity. Neither number is on a website; both come from a quote.

Both describe scorecards; Greenhouse puts interview kits on its entry tier.

Greenhouse lists structured interview kits and scorecards on Core, its entry tier, so the tier question is answered on the page. Rippling describes custom scorecards with structured questions and rating scales, plus AI summaries of interviews and of interviewer feedback, without a tier grid, because Rippling Recruiting is sold as one module. If a written interview plan and a shared scorecard are why you are shopping, ask Rippling to show you the scorecard builder on the call; at Greenhouse it is on the pricing page.

Rippling's offer step is tied to the HRIS; Greenhouse's e-signature is on every tier.

Rippling says offer letters generate from candidate information and approved compensation bands held in the HRIS, with built-in approval flows. That is a reason the module requires the HRIS. Greenhouse lists e-signature on Core, Plus, and Pro. Neither Rippling page we checked mentions e-signature, so ask before you plan on it.

Both document an MCP server; the scope is different.

Rippling MCP covers the whole platform: people and org data, time off, hiring, and custom objects, governed by the user's own permissions in Rippling, with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and Gemini named. Greenhouse MCP is an open beta for Site Admins on every tier, scoped to hiring data and workflows. Neither page states a price. If you want your own agent running the admin, both vendors have published an answer, and Rippling's reaches beyond hiring.

If neither fits: a third option.

If you already run Rippling for HR and payroll and want the interview itself to be designed for the role, but you are not ready for an enterprise-weight ATS and a sales quote from either vendor, Yardstick is built for that shape: a standalone ATS that starts with the interview and bills on open roles.

Yardstick designs the interview guide and scorecard for the role you are hiring, so every candidate has the same important conversation, is scored on the same scale, and the interview produces evidence about who will perform in this job. The AI drafts the guide and the scorecard; your team edits them and makes every hiring decision. Interviewers open the guide on a magic link, with no paid seats to buy. Structured interviews, scorecards, scheduling, a talent CRM, and the public API are on every account, including the free one.

Yardstick pricing is billed on open roles: the first three Jobs are free, then Yardstick Core is $49 a month plus $29 per open role, billed monthly, and Yardstick Scale is $149 a month plus $19 per open role. One open role on Yardstick Core is $78 a month, two are $107, and three are $136. A role you close stops billing the next month, and there is no annual contract. Interviewers and hiring managers are never charged as seats, and the bill does not move with your headcount.

The agent path is your own agent. You chat with Claude Code or Codex, it runs the yardstick CLI, and the actions that matter wait for your approval: publishing a job, advancing or rejecting a candidate, emailing one. Claude and ChatGPT can connect over MCP on every account, free included.

Yardstick is not an HRIS. It does not do payroll, benefits, time off, or an employee record, so it sits next to Rippling rather than replacing it, and it is not built for a thousand-person organization standardizing a global process. SSO, SCIM, and audit logs are on the Enterprise plan.

See how Yardstick compares with Greenhouse. For seven systems lined up against Greenhouse on price and interviewing, see Greenhouse alternatives. For the other HR platform with an ATS inside it, see BambooHR vs Greenhouse. For which ATS vendors document an MCP server today, see agent-operable ATS. Full Yardstick pricing is on the pricing page. Common questions about Rippling Recruiting vs Greenhouse.

Is Rippling Recruiting a standalone ATS?

Not as Rippling describes it. Rippling's own recruiting review says Rippling Recruiting is an add-on to the core HRIS platform and requires it, because offer letters, onboarding, and reporting draw on employee records, payroll, and benefits. Greenhouse is a standalone ATS.

Is Rippling Recruiting or Greenhouse cheaper?

Neither publishes a price, so there is no figure to compare. Rippling says most of its products are billed per employee per month and sends a custom quote. Greenhouse says pricing is customized to your hiring needs. The shape differs: Rippling's bill moves with headcount and sits on top of the HRIS; Greenhouse's quote is for hiring tooling alone.

Does Rippling Recruiting have interview scorecards?

Rippling describes custom scorecards with structured questions and rating scales, an Interview Assistant that records and transcribes interviews, and Candidate Feedback Summaries that combine interviewer input, as checked on September 11, 2026. Greenhouse lists structured interview kits and scorecards on every tier, including Core.

Can I use Greenhouse with Rippling for HR?

The Greenhouse pricing page does not name Rippling, and the Rippling pages we checked describe a native integration with Rippling's own HRIS rather than with other applicant tracking systems. Confirm the specific integration with each vendor before you plan on it.

Which one has an MCP server?

Both do, by their own pages. Rippling MCP names Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and Gemini and covers people and org data, time off, hiring, and custom objects under the user's Rippling permissions. Greenhouse MCP is in open beta and available to all Site Admins on Core, Plus, and Pro. Neither page states a price.

What if neither fits?

Yardstick, our product, is a standalone ATS that designs the interview guide and scorecard for each role and bills on open roles: the first three Jobs are free, then $49 a month plus $29 per open role, billed monthly with no minimum term. The public API, CLI, and MCP are on every account, including free. It is not an HRIS.

Want the interview designed for the role, without a sales quote?

Start free. The first three Jobs are free, no seats to count, and the public API, CLI, and MCP are on from day one.
