Switching from Breezy HR to Yardstick

Getting your data out of Breezy HR

The steps to get your candidates and positions out of Breezy HR, including who can run each export and what the API needs. Every step links to Breezy's own documentation.

  1. 1

Export your candidates to CSV. Click Candidates in the left sidebar, or open the Candidates view of one position. Select everyone with the checkbox in the heading, pick the fields you want from the Columns dropdown, then choose Export Candidates from the More dropdown. If the file is large, Breezy emails you when it is ready.

  2. 2

Add the Resume column before you export. The CSV then includes a link to a PDF version of each candidate's resume.

  3. 3

Run the export as an admin. Admin access is needed to export complete candidate data for the whole company, and Hiring Manager access for a single position. Other roles get limited access.

  4. 4

Export your jobs the same way. Click Positions in the left sidebar, select the positions, pick the fields from the Columns dropdown, then choose Export Positions from the More dropdown.

  5. 5

For more than the CSV columns, use Breezy's API. For each candidate on a position it returns one bundle with their notes, documents, scorecards, questionnaires, and interview schedule, and a separate call downloads the resume file.

  6. 6

The API needs a personal access token, which any admin can create under My Settings, then API Keys, if your account has API access.

  7. 7

Check your plan with Breezy before you start. Its pricing page lists API Access and data export/import among the advanced features you can add on Custom Pro, without saying what the data export/import option adds. Breezy's export help articles do not name a plan.

Watch the deadlines

The pipeline moves — people, roles, and the history connecting them.

Yardstick imports the three things every ATS actually holds: your candidates, the jobs they were attached to, and the applications that record who stood where in which role. Applying the import also creates the job postings and starter interview plans that give each role a working home — so you land in a system that’s ready to run interviews, not an empty shell.

Your Breezy candidate and position CSVs go into the dry run as candidates, jobs, and applications, and your AI agent converts them to the importer's structured rows. Exporting candidates from each position's Candidates view keeps each file tied to one job. Keep your Breezy export as the archive for notes, scorecards, and documents, which stay behind.

Your AI agent can run the whole move.

The importer is part of Yardstick’s public API and the yardstick CLI, available on every account. So instead of working the exports by hand, you can hand them to your AI agent (Claude Code, Codex, or similar): it converts each export into structured rows, runs the dry run, and brings you a row-by-row preview of exactly what will be created. You read it and approve; the agent applies it — and the apply writes exactly what the preview showed, nothing more.

That’s the same division of labor Yardstick is built on everywhere: agents prepare the work, and humans approve it. An import never emails a candidate, never merges people, and never deletes anything.

Who should move — and who shouldn’t.

If Breezy still fits how your team hires, there's no reason to move. Teams move to Yardstick when they want an AI-designed interview guide and scorecard for every role on every account, a bill that follows the number of open roles, and an ATS their AI agent can operate. Export while your Breezy plan is still paid, because a downgrade to Bootstrap leaves only the last 30 days of candidates in reach.

Common questions about leaving Breezy HR.

How do I export my candidates from Breezy HR?

Click Candidates in the left sidebar (or open one position's Candidates view), select the candidates, choose your fields from the Columns dropdown, and pick Export Candidates from the More dropdown. Breezy saves a CSV, and emails you when a large file is ready. Admin access gets you complete candidate data for the whole company. Positions export the same way, with Export Positions. Breezy's pricing page also lists data export/import as a Custom Pro option, so check with Breezy what your plan includes.

Can I get resumes out of Breezy HR?

Yes. Add the Resume column to your candidate export and the CSV includes a link to a PDF version of each resume. If your account has API access, Breezy's API can also download each candidate's resume file and list their other documents.

Can an AI agent migrate my Breezy data to Yardstick?

Yes. Yardstick's importer is part of its public API and the yardstick CLI on every account, so your AI agent can take your Breezy CSVs, convert them into structured rows, run the dry run, and show you the preview. You approve it, and the agent applies exactly what the preview showed.

What happens to my Breezy data when I cancel or downgrade?

If you cancel a paid plan, Breezy deletes your data one year after cancellation, or right away if you ask for immediate deletion. If you downgrade to the free Bootstrap plan, you keep all position data but only candidate data added in the last 30 days. Export everything while your paid plan is active.
